Karim Benzema Transfer Rumours Swirl Around Indonesia Giants
Former Real Madrid and France’s name, Karim Benzema has unexpectedly become a major talking point among Persib Bandung supporters, with the Indonesian champions reportedly searching for a new striker to increase competition for Balsa Sekulic.
Speculation linking Benzema with a move to Persib has intensified after Bobotoh began flooding the French striker’s Instagram comments with messages urging him to join the Maung Bandung squad. The volume of those comments has only added to the growing excitement surrounding the possibility.
Benzema, however, is not the only forward reportedly being considered by Persib. Jovo Lukic has also been mentioned as a potential addition, although the former Real Madrid star remains the name that has generated the most attention among the club’s supporters.
The speculation has gained further momentum after several football content creators appeared to drop hints about a possible major signing. Those suggestions have prompted plenty of questions among Bobotoh, particularly over whether there is any substance behind the rumours involving the former Real Madrid forward.
For now, however, there has been no official confirmation that Benzema is close to joining Persib.
Adhitia Pratama, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, previously addressed the club’s plans regarding new signings. He explained that any recruitment decision must be based on recommendations from the coaching staff.
Persib head coach Igor Tolic has now also commented on the situation, revealing that he has yet to receive any new information regarding a potential incoming player.
“Yes. I don’t have any information about a new player,” Tolic said.
The Croatian coach added that the numerous rumours circulating online could only be properly addressed by Adhitia. Rather than speculating on the identity of a possible signing, Tolic suggested that questions about recruitment should be directed to the club’s management.
“But if he [Adhitia] says it, you can ask him. That would be better,” Tolic added.
Tolic’s comments indicate that, at least from the coaching side, there is currently no confirmed information regarding Benzema or any other new striker. For the time being, the rumours remain largely driven by supporter speculation and social media activity.
Should Persib eventually decide to strengthen their attacking options, the arrival of a player of Benzema’s profile would naturally attract enormous attention. Until an official announcement is made, however, the Frenchman’s potential move to Bandung remains speculation rather than a confirmed transfer.
