Harry Kane Makes England History With Brace in 3-0 Win Over Czech Republic
Harry Kane capped England’s latest international break in record-breaking fashion after scoring twice in a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic at Wembley. The Bayern Munich striker reached two major milestones on the same night, becoming England’s joint-most capped player and extending his lead as the nation’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Kane had hoped to end the international window with another victory, and he delivered when it mattered most. The England captain scored twice at Wembley, while the third goal came through a Vladimir Coufal own goal as the Three Lions secured another comfortable result.
The victory leaves England second in Group C of the UEFA Nations League with nine points, three behind leaders Spain. Thomas Tuchel’s side have won every other match during the campaign and, apart from their defeat to La Roja, have also maintained an impressive defensive record without conceding in their victories.
Kane’s brace took his international tally to 91 goals, further extending his record as England’s leading scorer. No previous Three Lions player has matched his goalscoring output, with the Bayern forward continuing to strengthen his place at the top of the national team’s scoring charts.
The evening also saw Kane equal another historic record. His appearance against the Czech Republic was his 125th for England, drawing him level with legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton as the nation’s most capped player.
Shilton amassed his 125 appearances during a distinguished international career that spanned the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. His opportunities were eventually shared more frequently with fellow goalkeeper Ray Clemence, who earned 61 caps between 1972 and 1983, but Shilton ultimately retained the record for decades.
Kane now has a clear opportunity to move ahead of Shilton and become England’s outright appearance record holder. Another international outing in November could be enough for the 32-year-old to claim the record for himself.
With his goalscoring record already beyond the reach of every previous England striker and the appearance record now within touching distance, Kane’s legacy with the Three Lions continues to grow. His latest performance at Wembley offered another reminder of why he remains one of the most influential players in the history of English international football.
