Barcelona vs Racing Santander:The Champions Try to Maintain Their Winning Run

Barcelona will welcome newly promoted Racing Santander to Camp Nou on Wednesday, September 16, in the sixth round of the 2026/27 La Liga season, with Hansi Flick’s side aiming to extend their impressive winning streak.

Racing will therefore have to prioritise defensive discipline if they are to remain competitive. A compact low block could be their most practical approach, allowing them to reduce the space available between the lines before attempting to counterattack quickly whenever possession is regained.

The strategy may help them frustrate Barcelona for periods, but maintaining that level of concentration for 90 minutes will be extremely difficult given the hosts’ current form. Recent history also heavily favours Barcelona.

The Catalans have won each of their last five meetings with Racing Santander, including a 2-0 Copa del Rey victory in January 2026. Barcelona have also recorded convincing wins in their previous La Liga meetings, regularly keeping clean sheets in the process.

With Barcelona playing at Camp Nou and entering the fixture with considerable momentum, Racing face one of their biggest challenges since returning to the top flight.
