Persib’s new signing, Danijel Loncar, is likely to miss the opening match of the Dewata Challenge Series against Sabah FC on Saturday, August 18, 2026, at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium. Persib head coach Igor Tolic confirmed the news.

The Croatian coach said Loncar is not yet ready to feature in the match. The defender’s condition is still not fully stable, and he needs sufficient rest to continue adapting to his new environment.

“No. He is still not ready, just like when Mariano Peralta arrived. There are issues with jet lag and his body’s adjustment. He needs to be fully fit, get enough rest, and sleep well,” Igor Tolic told reporters.

Tolic explained that Loncar has yet to meet the fitness standards set by the coaching staff. Nevertheless, he has seen promising progress from the Croatian defender during Persib’s training camp in Bali.

“He needs to complete at least six or seven good training sessions before we can play him in a match,” Igor explained.

Despite this, Tolic has not ruled out the possibility of Loncar making his debut during the Dewata Challenge Series. The coach believes there is still a strong chance for the defender to feature when Persib face Bali United. However, the final decision will depend on Loncar’s condition and performance in training.

“Maybe in the second match against Bali United, if everything goes well,” Igor said.

The 48-year-old coach is also pleased with Loncar’s progress in adapting to the Persib squad. He hopes the positive signs will benefit both the player and the team as they prepare for the new season.

“So far, he has been training, adapting, and getting to know the other players, so I think he will be fine,” Igor concluded.
