Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca praised his two wingers, Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush, following the Citizens’ impressive victory over Atletico Madrid during their pre-season tour of Asia.

Manchester City played their final match of their Asian pre-season tour against Atletico Madrid on Sunday (9/8) evening WIB. At Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea, the Citizens secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Diego Simeone’s side.

City initially fell behind after Atletico took the lead through Jorge Dominguez. However, the Premier League side turned the game around with two goals from Omar Marmoush, while Rayan Ait-Nouri added a third shortly before the end of the second half.

After the match, Maresca expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance, particularly given the quality of the opposition. He also praised his players for their commitment throughout pre-season ahead of the start of the competitive campaign.

Maresca was particularly pleased with the productivity shown by City’s wingers. However, the former Chelsea manager acknowledged that the team is not yet operating at full strength, with several key players still absent.

“Overall, it was a very good friendly against one of the best teams in Europe. Credit to the players for the effort they have shown. From tomorrow, pre-season will be over and the real season will begin,” Maresca said, as reported by Reuters.

“We need to be more clinical. That is something we need to improve. Slowly, we are getting there, and with Erling [Haaland], we can be even more dangerous. Today, Omar scored two goals. That is a boost for him.”

Manchester City will now turn their attention to Arsenal, whom they will face in the Community Shield on Sunday (16/8) evening WIB. Their first Premier League fixture will follow one week later, when City host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.
