Rumors linking Marselino Ferdinan with a move to Persija Jakarta appear unlikely to materialize anytime soon, as the midfielder is currently focused on recovering from a knee injury.

Marselino had been strongly linked with a move to Persija this summer. The arrival of Shin Tae-yong as the club’s new head coach was reportedly one of the main reasons behind the speculation.

Meanwhile, Marselino’s future at Oxford United remains uncertain after he was left out of the club’s squad for the 2026/27 season. A return to Indonesia had been considered one of the best options for the 21-year-old.

However, Marselino is still dealing with a fitness issue. The former Persebaya Surabaya player recently underwent knee surgery in Spain.

“Devastated, but I will never give up. Thank you to Mr. Erick and PSSI for taking care of my surgery and ensuring that everything went smoothly,” Marselino wrote on Instagram.

Marselino sustained the injury while attending an Indonesia national team training camp in July. The setback forced him to miss the entire 2026 AFF Championship.

The injury appears to have been serious enough to require surgery, meaning Marselino is expected to face a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Given the situation, Marselino could spend the first half of the 2026/27 season on the sidelines. His main priority is now to make a full recovery and return to action at 100 percent.

“Focus on my recovery and be ready to give my best for Indonesia,” he added.
