Persija Jakarta vs Java United: Two Contrasting Starts Meet in Bali
Persija Jakarta will face Java United in the third matchweek of the 2026/27 Super League season at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar, Bali, on Saturday evening WIB.
Despite being listed as the home side, Persija will once again have to play away from the capital as they continue their nomadic start to the campaign. The Jakarta club have been unable to use either of the city’s main stadiums, forcing them to move their home fixture to Bali.
The Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium is currently undergoing preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, while Jakarta International Stadium is unavailable due to an international concert by The Weeknd. As a result, Persija will once again have to adjust to playing their supposed home match outside Jakarta.
On the pitch, however, Persija have enjoyed a near-perfect start to the new season. The Kemayoran-based club have won both of their opening matches, overcoming two of the biggest challenges available in the division.
Persija opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Borneo FC, last season’s Super League runners-up, before producing another impressive result by defeating defending champions Persib Bandung 2-1. Those victories have given Shin Tae-yong’s side considerable confidence heading into the meeting with Java United.
Java United, meanwhile, have endured a completely different start following their rebranding from Malut United. The club remain among the eight teams yet to register a victory in the 2026/27 campaign.
Their opening match ended in a 1-1 draw against Garudayaksa before they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Persita Tangerang in their second outing. Those results have left Java United with just one point from two matches.
The situation is even more challenging because Java United began the season with a two-point deduction imposed by I League. As a result, they currently sit 17th in the standings with minus one point.
The contrast between the two clubs is also reflected in their previous meetings. Persija have won two of the last four encounters, while the other two matches ended in draws, leaving Java United still searching for their first victory over the Jakarta giants in that period.
Persija are likely to approach the match with confidence after overcoming Borneo FC and Persib, while Java United must find a way to halt their difficult opening stretch. The visitors will need to improve defensively after conceding three goals against Persita, particularly against a Persija side that has already demonstrated its ability to punish mistakes.

Persija head into the contest with significantly stronger momentum after beating two of the division’s leading sides in their opening fixtures. Java United, meanwhile, remain under pressure as they search for their first win and attempt to recover from their points deduction.
The move to Bali means Persija will not enjoy a traditional home advantage, but their early-season performances suggest they remain capable of controlling the contest. Java United could make the match competitive, although Persija are expected to have the greater consistency and attacking threat.
