Piotr Zielinski Reveals Inter Milan’s Champions League Ambition
Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski has revealed that the Champions League remains one of the club’s primary ambitions this season, while also assessing the teams he expects to challenge for the Serie A title.
Zielinski played an important role as Inter secured both the Scudetto and Coppa Italia under Cristian Chivu last season. After completing his international commitments with Poland, the midfielder recently attended the Premio Gentleman awards in Milan before returning to training with his Inter teammates ahead of the next Serie A fixture.
Reflecting on Inter’s ability to overcome difficult situations last season, Zielinski highlighted the mentality that allowed the Nerazzurri to recover from challenging moments against opponents such as Napoli, Udinese and Roma.
“We are a great team, and I think we have already proved that. That is our strength,” Zielinski said, as reported by Football Italia.
The Poland international was also asked which teams could emerge as Inter’s main challengers in the Serie A title race. While Inter remain among the favourites, Zielinski identified Roma, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Como as sides capable of mounting a serious challenge.
Inter’s domestic ambitions remain unchanged, but the club are also determined to make a deeper impact in Europe. After winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia last season, the Nerazzurri want to remain competitive in Serie A while pushing for another opportunity to lift the Champions League trophy.
Inter’s European campaign last season ended in disappointment when they were eliminated by Real Madrid. Despite that setback, Zielinski believes the experience demonstrated that Chivu’s side possess the quality to compete with Europe’s elite.
“Not everyone can go to the Bernabeu and dominate a game, but we did it. Even though we lost, the team showed that there was still hope. We demonstrated how strong we are, and the match in Madrid can be proof of that,” Zielinski added.
Inter last lifted the European Cup in 2010 under Jose Mourinho, completing a historic treble that remains one of the defining achievements in the club’s history. Zielinski now hopes the current squad can bring the trophy back to Milan after more than a decade of waiting.
For Inter, the challenge this season is therefore twofold: defend their domestic crowns while taking another step towards European glory. With Zielinski confident in the team’s mentality and aware of the growing competition in Serie A, the Nerazzurri will be aiming for another campaign at the highest level on both fronts.
