Persib player Sandy Walsh is determined to maintain his team’s winning tradition in domestic competitions. Walsh believes that defending the domestic league title is something Persib must fight for, while also aiming to achieve their best possible results in various Asian club competitions.

In Sandy Walsh’s view, retaining the domestic league title is a natural objective for Persib after winning the championship in the last three editions. However, he recognizes that the challenge will be much greater this season.

“My target, as a team, is of course to go as far as possible. Persib have won the league in the last three editions, so we have to try to go for a fourth title,” Sandy told reporters.

This season, Persib will compete in four major competitions, two of which will be held domestically, while the other two are Asian club competitions. Their participation in four competitions in a single season marks a new chapter in Persib’s history.

Sandy Walsh acknowledges that competing in four competitions will make the season considerably more demanding. However, the Surabaya-born player is confident that Persib can gradually overcome the challenge for the sake of Indonesian football.

“The other competitions will be a challenge for the team. Last season, we may have had two competitions, but now we have four, so the number has doubled. We will need every player in the squad,” Sandy explained.

Despite the demanding schedule, Persib will not treat the workload as a burden. Instead, Sandy believes the challenges can serve as additional motivation, especially given the significant impact that consistently positive results in multiple competitions could have on the club.

“It will be fun. More games mean more opportunities to win, and that is the mentality we are building at the moment,” Sandy concluded.
