Paris Brunner emerged as the star of the show as AS Monaco secured a 2-0 victory over Marseille, scoring both goals to maintain his side’s perfect start to the Ligue 1 season.

The Germany international, who began his career with Borussia Dortmund, delivered another impressive display as Monaco recorded back-to-back victories from their opening two league fixtures. The result moved Filipe Luis’ side to the top of the early Ligue 1 standings.

Luis was particularly impressed by Brunner’s adaptation since arriving at Monaco. The Brazilian coach believes the 20-year-old has quickly understood his tactical demands and adjusted to the team’s style of play.

That commitment has also been evident during matches. Brunner has shown a willingness to press aggressively from the front and track back to support his teammates defensively, qualities that have made him an increasingly valuable component of Monaco’s system.

Despite still being only 20, Brunner has already caught Luis’ attention with his attitude and work ethic. The coach sees the forward’s passion for football and dedication to his profession as characteristics that perfectly fit the profile he wants in his squad.

Brunner opened the scoring in the 13th minute after receiving a pass from Monaco captain Aleksandr Golovin on the right flank. The German forward then produced another moment of individual quality after the break.

Nine minutes into the second half, Brunner burst into Marseille’s penalty area and found a way past Geoffrey Kondogbia and CJ Egan-Riley before firing a powerful effort beyond goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange.

His two goals were enough to settle the contest and underline the threat he could pose throughout the campaign. Brunner previously gained experience in Belgium before continuing his development elsewhere in Europe, and his latest performance suggests he could be ready for a major breakthrough in France.

Two matches into the new Ligue 1 season, the young striker has already sent a warning to the rest of the division. With Monaco sitting at the top of the table and Brunner playing with growing confidence, opponents will have to be wary of the German forward in the weeks ahead.

The big question now is whether Brunner can maintain this early momentum and turn a promising start into a consistently prolific campaign with Monaco.
