Real Madrid Targeting FC Bayern’s Wonderkid, Not Olise
Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl, with Los Blancos said to be seriously considering a move for the highly rated teenager during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Spanish giants were recently linked with a sensational move for Bayern winger Michael Olise, with reports suggesting that Real Madrid were prepared to make a significant financial commitment to bring the France international to the Santiago Bernabeu. Bayern, however, made their position clear at the time, insisting that Olise was not for sale.
Real Madrid have now turned their attention towards another Bayern player in Karl, who has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents within the Bavarian club’s first-team setup. Despite being only 18, the attacking midfielder has already shown that he can compete at the highest level.
Karl enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists across all competitions. Born in Gelnhausen, Germany, the youngster’s rapid development has made him an increasingly important figure at Bayern despite his age.
His progress, however, was briefly disrupted before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Karl suffered an injury during training shortly before the tournament, ruling him out of Germany’s squad and denying him the opportunity to showcase his talent on the biggest international stage.
Karl was called up by new Germany head coach Jurgen Klopp for this month’s international break, earning a place in the senior squad for the first time. However, concerns over his match fitness ultimately saw him moved to the Germany B squad, with Klopp unwilling to risk aggravating the youngster’s previous injury.
At club level, Karl remains under contract with Bayern until 2029. Nevertheless, the German champions are reportedly considering offering him a new long-term deal in an effort to secure his future and protect one of the club’s most valuable young assets.
Under Vincent Kompany, Karl has been handed significant opportunities despite his age. His ability to operate in an advanced midfield role has made him an important part of Bayern’s plans, and the club appears determined to continue his development in Munich.
Real Madrid’s interest could nevertheless prove difficult for Bayern to ignore. The Santiago Bernabeu remains one of the most coveted destinations in world football, and Karl has reportedly been no exception when it comes to the long-standing allure of Los Blancos.
As one of Europe’s most promising teenagers, Karl is expected to attract interest from several elite clubs as his career continues to develop. Real Madrid’s growing interest only underlines how highly the Germany youth international is regarded across the continent.
Whether Karl could make the move to Spain as early as January remains to be seen.
