Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is reportedly open to the possibility of joining Bayern Munich in the future, reviving speculation surrounding his potential move to the Bundesliga giants. The Norwegian midfielder has been linked with Die Roten on several occasions in recent years, although a transfer has yet to materialise.

Bayern have previously expressed interest in securing Odegaard’s services, but negotiations proved complicated and ultimately prevented the German champions from completing a deal. However, the situation could now be changing, with fresh uncertainty emerging over the midfielder’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

According to Sky Sport Germany, Arsenal have already offered Odegaard a new contract, but the player has yet to provide a response. The lack of progress in negotiations has reportedly left the Gunners facing an important decision regarding their captain’s future.

With Odegaard’s current contract running until June 2028, Arsenal could consider selling him during next summer’s transfer window rather than risk losing him on a free transfer when his deal expires. However, the club’s next move will largely depend on whether the midfielder is willing to commit his future to North London by accepting an extension.

Bayern Interested but Not Prioritising Odegaard

Bayern Munich are not the only club monitoring Odegaard’s situation, with several European sides reportedly keeping track of developments surrounding the Norwegian international.

Despite the possibility of signing the former Real Madrid midfielder, Bayern are understood to have other priorities in their recruitment plans for the coming transfer windows. While there is reportedly interest from Odegaard in experiencing German football, the Bundesliga champions do not currently consider him a leading target.

That situation could change depending on how Arsenal’s contract negotiations develop and whether the midfielder becomes available on the transfer market. For now, however, Bayern appear unwilling to make him the centre of their immediate recruitment strategy.

Odegaard’s Influence at Arsenal

Since joining Arsenal permanently from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 for a reported €35 million, Odegaard has established himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

The 27-year-old has made 248 appearances across all competitions, scoring 46 goals and providing 47 assists. Beyond his attacking contributions, his leadership and ability to dictate the tempo of matches have made him an important figure in Mikel Arteta’s system.

As Arsenal captain, his future is naturally a significant concern for the club, particularly given his importance to their ambitions in domestic and European competitions.

For the moment, Odegaard remains focused on his responsibilities at Arsenal. He is expected to be available for Sunday’s highly anticipated Premier League encounter against Liverpool, with the Gunners looking to secure an important result in their title challenge.

Whether Bayern eventually turn their reported interest into a formal approach remains to be seen. Much will depend on the outcome of Arsenal’s contract negotiations and Odegaard’s own ambitions, with next summer potentially becoming a decisive period in determining the Norwegian’s future.
