Not Done Shopping Yet, Persija Set to Sign One More Foreign Player
Persija Jakarta plans to bring in one more foreign player in the near future. This was confirmed directly by head coach Shin Tae-yong.
Persija is indeed one of the clubs that has not yet filled its foreign player quota for the 2026/27 Super League season. The Macan Kemayoran currently have only eight foreign players on their roster: Fabio Calonego, Kerim Memija, Radovan Pankov, Denis Kolinger, Kyohei Yoshino, Stjepan Loncar, Kwon Chang-hoon, and Alexander Jeremejeff.
Despite the incomplete quota, Persija managed to achieve positive results during the pre-season. In addition to securing third place in the 2026 President’s Cup, Rizky Ridho and his teammates also swept all three of their recent friendly matches with victories.
These positive outcomes serve as proof of Persija’s readiness for the 2026/27 Super League. However, Shin Tae-yong appears not yet fully satisfied with his current squad depth.
“It is very likely that we will add one more player, so please stay tuned for that. We will be adding one more foreign player,” said the coach, commonly known as STY.
While STY did not provide specific details about the incoming foreign player, rumors have narrowed down to one primary candidate: Antonio Colak.
Adding one more player will still not completely fill Persija’s foreign player quota. Regulations allow each club to sign up to eleven foreign players, although only nine can be registered in a single matchday squad.
“We are still discussing whether we will fill the full quota of 11 foreign players in the squad or not; you will see in due time,” STY concluded.
