Persija Defeats Brisbane Roar, Shin Tae-yong Sees No Weaknesses in the Team
Persija Jakarta delivered a dominant performance in their friendly match against Brisbane Roar. Head coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) stated that he saw no weaknesses in his side’s play.
The friendly match between Persija and Brisbane Roar took place at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday (29/8). The Macan Kemayoran closed out the match with a convincing 4-0 victory.
Alexander Jeremejeff stole the spotlight by scoring two goals. Persija’s other two goals were contributed by Kerim Memija and an own goal from opposing goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis.
The match against Brisbane Roar served as Persija’s final friendly ahead of the 2026/27 Super League season. STY assessed that Rizky Ridho and his teammates delivered an almost flawless performance.
“In today’s match, I did not find a single aspect that I could point to as a problem on either side. Of course, during a football match, minor mistakes bound to happen here and there, but we cannot highlight every mistake and say we are lacking in that area,” STY said.
“So from my perspective, a match like today’s is quite satisfying, and you can look at it that way.”
The victory over Brisbane Roar continues Persija’s positive trend during the pre-season. They had previously achieved similar results in two friendly matches held in Thailand.
This positive outcome also signals Persija’s readiness to face the 2026/27 Super League season, especially with two tough fixtures against Borneo FC and Persib Bandung waiting ahead.
“We have a clear objective, so we will continue to embrace challenges, work hard, and make sacrifices to achieve it,” he concluded.
