Fabregas Named Serie A’s Best Coach After Historic Como Campaign
Cesc Fabregas has been recognised as Serie A’s best coach for the 2025/26 season after guiding Como 1907 to an extraordinary fourth-place finish and a historic qualification for the Champions League.
The award, presented at the Gran Gala del Calcio, marks another major milestone in Fabregas’ rapidly developing managerial career. The former Arsenal midfielder beat a number of more established coaches in Italian football to claim the individual honour.
Fabregas took charge of Como after the club had earned promotion to Serie A and immediately helped transform them into one of the most intriguing sides in the division. Como finished 10th in their first season back in the top flight, comfortably securing their Serie A status.
They then made a remarkable leap forward the following campaign, climbing to fourth place and competing with several of Italy’s traditional powerhouses for a Champions League position. Their achievement marked the first time in the club’s history that Como had qualified for Europe’s elite competition.
The club have also made an encouraging start to the current Serie A campaign. After opening the season with a draw against Udinese, Como produced a statement result by defeating Napoli 2-1, further strengthening their reputation as a team capable of troubling even the biggest names in Italy.

The Argentina international enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign under Fabregas, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His performances were enough to earn him a place in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Paz’s development reflects Fabregas’ broader philosophy of combining experienced players with emerging talent. Rather than simply relying on established names, the Como coach has sought to create an environment in which younger players can grow while contributing immediately at senior level.
The next challenge will be significantly greater. Alongside defending their strong position in Serie A, Fabregas and Como are preparing for their first-ever Champions League campaign. Como are scheduled to host Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, RB Leipzig and AEK Athens, while their away fixtures will take them to Barcelona, Real Betis, Feyenoord and RC Lens.
The Champions League campaign will provide Fabregas with his biggest managerial examination yet. After transforming Como from newly promoted outsiders into a top-four Serie A side, he must now demonstrate whether his footballing project can compete successfully against some of Europe’s elite.
For Como, the appointment of Fabregas has already delivered an unprecedented rise. The next chapter could determine just how far the ambitious Italian club can go under the guidance of one of the most promising young coaches in European football.
