Paris Saint-Germain have provided an update on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s condition, confirming that the Georgian forward has successfully undergone surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee. The procedure marks the beginning of a lengthy rehabilitation process for one of Luis Enrique’s most influential attacking players.

The operation took place at Aspetar Hospital in Doha, Qatar. Kvaratskhelia will now focus on his recovery, with the club expected to provide the necessary support as he works towards regaining full fitness.

The 25-year-old sustained the serious knee injury during PSG’s Champions League encounter with Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. He required extensive medical attention early in the second half after a challenge involving Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart, before being helped off the pitch by the medical staff.

In an official statement, PSG confirmed that the operation had been completed successfully.

“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has successfully undergone surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at Aspetar Hospital in Doha, Qatar. He will now begin his rehabilitation,” the club announced.

Kvaratskhelia’s extended absence represents a significant setback for Enrique, particularly as PSG are already dealing with other injury concerns. Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos have also been sidelined with thigh injuries, leaving the Parisian side facing additional challenges as they navigate a demanding schedule across domestic and European competitions.

The Georgian international has become a key figure in PSG’s attacking setup over recent seasons, contributing to the club’s success and playing an important role in their consecutive Champions League triumphs. His creativity, dribbling ability and attacking influence will be difficult to replace, making his injury a major concern for the reigning European champions.

His absence has also prompted speculation over whether PSG could strengthen their squad during the next transfer window. Although the club must first assess its existing options, losing such an influential player could force Enrique and the management team to reconsider their attacking depth as the season progresses.

PSG Supporters Send Emotional Message to Kvaratskhelia

Despite the disappointing news, Kvaratskhelia has received an outpouring of support from PSG supporters. Ahead of the club’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Olympique Lyonnais, fans unveiled a large banner at the Parc des Princes expressing their solidarity with the injured forward.

The banner carried a heartfelt message: “Kvara, the red and blue faithful are with you.”

The gesture reflected the affection Kvaratskhelia has earned since arriving in Paris and the importance he holds within the club’s fanbase. For a player facing a long and challenging recovery, such support could provide an additional source of encouragement throughout his rehabilitation.

PSG will now have to adapt to life without one of their most important attacking weapons, while Kvaratskhelia begins the difficult process of working his way back to fitness. The club’s immediate priority will be to support his recovery and ensure that he receives the time and care necessary to return to the pitch at full strength.

Although his absence represents a substantial blow to PSG’s ambitions this season, the club and its supporters remain firmly behind the Georgian forward as he starts the road towards his comeback.
