Dean James Helps Go Ahead Eagles Maintain Unbeaten Home Record
Indonesian national team player Dean James contributed to Go Ahead Eagles maintaining their unbeaten home record in the Eredivisie following a 3–2 victory over Telstar at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday, October 23, 2026.
Dean James started the match at left-back. However, he did not play the full 90 minutes, as head coach Joseph Oosting substituted him off in the 63rd minute for Thibo Baeten.
Søren Tengstedt starred in the match with a brace, scoring in the 8th and 33rd minutes, before Evert Linthorst netted the third goal for the Eagles. Meanwhile, Telstar’s two goals were scored by Tyrone Owusu and Sem Valk.
Despite relentless rain and strong winds, Go Ahead Eagles showcased their best form at De Adelaarshorst. The heavy downpour did not stop Go Ahead Eagles from taking a first-half lead over the visiting team from Velsen-Zuid.
In the 8th minute, Søren Tengstedt scored the opener for the Deventer-based side. The Danish player found enough time and space on the edge of the penalty box to fire a low shot past Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman on the wet pitch, making it 1–0.
A cross was headed by Mathis Suray down to Søren Tengstedt, who was once again clinical from the edge of the box, extending the lead to 2–0 in the 34th minute—a scoreline that held until the halftime whistle.
Having created almost no chances in the first half, Telstar managed to pull one back early in the second half through Tyrone Owusu to make it 2–1. By the 67th minute, Go Ahead Eagles restored their two-goal cushion.
Shortly after, Søren Tengstedt had a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick, but his shot went straight at goalkeeper Ronald Koeman. However, the resulting corner kick proved decisive as Evert Linthorst headed the ball into the net to make it 3–1.
For the remainder of the match, neither side posed any serious threat to the opposing goalkeepers. As the storm continued to rage over De Adelaarshorst, the home supporters were already celebrating an impending victory over Telstar.
Telstar did manage a second goal in stoppage time when Sem Valk scored in the 90+2 minute, but it came too late to change the outcome. Go Ahead Eagles secured all three points to add to their Eredivisie tally with a 3–2 win.
