STY Prepares Special Program for Persija’s Six Indonesia International Players
Persija Jakarta head coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) has prepared a special training program for six of his players who recently joined the club’s training camp after representing the Indonesia national team.
Persija are currently holding their training camp in Thailand from Monday (10/8) until Sunday (23/8). The program is part of the capital club’s preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Super League season.
However, Persija only recently welcomed six players who had previously been on international duty with the Indonesia national team at the 2026 AFF Championship. The six players are Rizky Ridho, Shayne Pattynama, Jordi Amat, Dony Tri Pamungkas, Rayhan Hannan, and Nadeo Argawinata.
After completing their international duties, the six players were given some time off before joining the Persija squad in Thailand.
As a result, Shin Tae-yong has decided not to immediately integrate them into the team’s regular training sessions. Instead, the South Korean coach has prepared a separate training program aimed at restoring their physical condition and improving their fitness.
Shin believes the players require different treatment after going through a demanding tournament that took a toll both physically and mentally. Indonesia’s campaign at the 2026 AFF Championship also ended in disappointing fashion.
“We will put them (the Indonesia national team players who have just joined the team) into a separate training program. They are quite tired, both physically and mentally, after participating in the tournament (2026 AFF Championship),” Shin Tae-yong said in a video received by Vivagoal from the club.
The former South Korea national team coach added that despite having received a period of rest, the six players still need a special program before returning to full team training.
“Even though they have already had some time to rest, we still want to improve their basic strength and fitness first before they join the team training sessions,” he explained.
The program is expected to help Rizky Ridho and his teammates return to their best condition before fully rejoining their teammates. Shin Tae-yong also wants to ensure that their fitness levels are properly managed ahead of the new season.
In addition to their training program, Persija are scheduled to play two friendly matches during their stay in Thailand. The Kemayoran Tigers will face Police Tero FC on August 19, 2026, before taking on Chiangrai United FC on August 22, 2026.
The two matches will form part of Persija’s preparations as they look to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Super League season.
