Vicario Fulfils Childhood Dream by Joining Juventus
Guglielmo Vicario has officially joined Juventus on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, bringing an end to the club’s search for a new goalkeeper. For the Italy international, the move also represents the fulfilment of a childhood dream of playing for the Bianconeri.
Vicario will spend the 2026/27 season in Turin on a one-year loan deal. Juventus do not have an obligation to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season, meaning his long-term future will be decided at a later stage.
Speaking in his first interview as a Juventus player, Vicario admitted that returning to Italy was an emotional moment, particularly because of his long-standing ambition to represent the club.
“I’m quite emotional because this is a dream I have had since I was a child. I have always hoped that this moment would come, and I’m extremely proud to be part of this club,” Vicario said to Juventus’ official website
The 29-year-old also acknowledged the responsibility that comes with wearing the Juventus shirt. Despite the pressure attached to the role, Vicario is excited by the opportunity and is ready to give everything for the club.
Wearing the Juventus jersey carries significant responsibility, but Vicario could also have the opportunity to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. His arrival provides competition for the position as Juventus prepare for the new campaign.
Head coach Luciano Spalletti had previously indicated that Juventus needed to strengthen their goalkeeping department. The club explored moves for established names including Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez, but neither deal materialised.
Vicario eventually emerged as the solution, returning to the country where he established himself before moving to England in 2023.The goalkeeper has considerable experience in Italian football, having represented Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli during his career.
Across those clubs, Vicario made 69 appearances in Serie A before earning his move to Tottenham. Now back in Italy and wearing the colours of one of the country’s biggest clubs, Vicario has the opportunity to take the next step in his career while finally realising a dream he has carried since childhood.
